Shizumi Kodomo Dance Troupe LinksLearn more about our Artistic Director, Shizumi Manale, by visiting her web site. Artistic Director Shizumi Manale and the Shizumi Kodomo Dance Troupe, Inc., are collaborating with Boru Television to develop a documentary of the All Souls Church and Hiroshima survivors' pictures story, the inspiration for many of our dances and the music we use (link back to THEME). Visit the film web site to see a trailer for this documentary, to see some of the Pictures From a Hiroshima Schoolyard, and to read some of the press reports (in Japanese with some excerpts in English). The pictures from Hiroshima, drawn in crayon, water colors, ink, pencil, and paint, have been beautifully restored by All Souls, Unitarian church in Washington, DC. It has become a Shizumi Kodomo Dance Troupe tradition to perform at the opening ceremonies of the National Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington, DC and at the Cherry Blossom Matsuri or street festival sponsored by the Japan-America Society of Washington, DC. See SKDT on the web. Check out the SKDT performances on the Kodomo Dance YouTube channel. Just click SUBSCRIBE to stay updated with the newest videos that we post. And if you have a video of SKDT on YouTube, please tell us about it. We can “favorite” it and make it accesible from the KodomoDance Channel. And our performances at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts have been archived. Go to the Millennium Stage Archive site and search with the key word "kodomo dance". |
